We are delighted to announce our An Táin Arts Centre Mentee for 2024 is emerging playwright Ogie Harmon.

Ogie is an emerging playwright who has written and directed two sell out plays for St Brigid’s Community  Group. Both shows were staged in the Droichead Arts Centre in 2022. Since then Ogie has completed a fishamble playwriting course and is currently working closely with the Droichead Arts Centre to put on a new play titled ‘Sunscreen Only’ in 2025. Ogie is taking the next step to be mentored as a professional playwright and we are delighted to be working with him.

An Táin Arts Centre Mentors links emerging creative practitioners in our community with established industry experts to mentor them at an early point in their career. Mentoring can take place with regard to a specific project, and also in terms of helping them forge their own career path. Mentees can be from any artistic discipline.

Ogie says of the award “I am hugely honoured to be the recipient of this years An Táin Arts Centre mentorship. Working closely with An Táin Arts Centre, and specifically its Director Paul Hayes, will force me out of my comfort zone and embrace a new challenge with fixed deadlines. It’s a massive step as an emerging playwright, but one I look forward to with enthusiasm and determination.  I hope to flesh out ideas for a new play called ‘Before & After’. Paul’s wealth of experience and dramaturgy skills will be central to achieving this. I want to engage, learn and improve during my time. I can’t wait to get started.”
