A monthly book club in association with Roe River Books.

If you registered for a previous book club gathering, you are automatically subscribed for future ones, no need to register again!

Twenty-three-year-old Investment banker, Jane McAlister, longs to be as successful as her famous actress sister, Gillian, and find love. She’s in love with her friend, Ben, but he’s unavailable. After she loses out on a promotion to Ben, she visits a second-hand bookshop in Dublin, where she is given a pack of magical cards, from Tara, the kindly bookseller she has known since childhood. The cards give her a change to step out of her comfort zone and make her wishes come true.

The Cards That Changed My Life is the debut novel from Joanne Ryan Curran, who was one of our mentees as part of An Táin Arts Centre’s Mentorship Programme 2023 with former Writer in Residence Nicola Cassidy. We are delighted author Joanne will join us on the night for a Q&A.

While the Townhouse Bar & Restaurant undergoes refurbishment, our book club will take place in Roe River Books on Clanbrassil Street.
Occasionally we host the book club online and notify members via email. If the book club is online, you will be provided with a Zoom link and password in advance. If you would like to source this or any book, contact your local county library or email info@roeriverbooks.ie and Tom will let you know if he can get it for you.
